The youth are the most powerful untapped vehicle for change.

We're on a mission to create leaders. innovators. entrepreneurs. advocates. organizers. artists. changemakers. visionaries.

In a 2013 study, researcher Kyung Hee Kim concluded:

“children have become less emotionally expressive, less energetic, less talkative and verbally expressive, less humorous, less imaginative, less unconventional, less lively and passionate, less perceptive, less apt to connect seemingly irrelevant things, less synthesizing, and less likely to see things from a different angle.”

The ingenuity gap is getting bigger.

The trends show us a growing problem.

  • The K-12 education system has crushed critical thinking.

  • Tolerant discourse has crumbled amid intense political polarization.

  • There's a growing lack of respect for democracy and government among the youth.

  • Inequality plagues access to innovative extracurricular opportunities.

  • Youth advocacy and movements for social change have largely died out.

Our Mission

Vernian is a 501(c)4 nonprofit organization that focuses on the decline in opportunity for the youth, specifically in the areas of political engagement and social entrepreneurship.

We work with middle and high school students to encourage community service, advocacy, and innovative thinking as students pass through the education system.

We fund and conduct unique educational programs so that all students, regardless of social, political, or economic status, can cultivate the creative pursuit of their passions that is neglected today.
